What you must do on your first week after your arrival to the USA:

1. Within 3 Days of Your Arrival

- Announce your arrival to ICCE by calling the ICCE office at 213-380-4546
- Complete the Check-in upon arrival to the USA with your DS Sponsor

* Arrival Check-In
This Check-In process is the fastest and easiest way to report that you have arrived in the USA. We will guide you to the right Check-In process with your DS Sponsor in order to validate you in the Students and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS).
You should complete the Check-In upon arrival to the USA. If for any reason you are unable to check-in or you are not sure about your DS Sponsor's Check-In process, you must call ICCE or your DS sponsor for immediate assistance.

Rules governing the Cultural Exchange Program require that you check-in with your DS Sponsor directly following your arrival in order to:

Announce your arrival and living address
Activate your health insurance
Activate your record in the Student and Exchange Visitor System (SEVIS)

Failure to complete your arrival check-in will result in a delay in obtaining
your Social Security Number and could result in the termination of your program!

2. After 10 Business Days from Your Arrival Check-In

It is very important to apply for a Social Security Number after arriving to the U.S. We suggest you to wait 10 business days after you check-in with your DS Sponsor. Your Social Security Number application will not be processed if you are not checked in completely.
